Site
East facing vineyards from the top sites Engelreich and Berg; conglomerate soil with high chalk content.
Vinification
Harvested on 4th of December 2023, Grüner Veltliner is particularly suitable for this, as the berries can remain undamaged in the vineyards for a very long time due to their thick skins. According to Austrian wine law, the grapes must be naturally frozen (unlike in other countries) and may only be harvested and processed at temperatures below -7°C.
Tasting notes
The Eiswein is vinified in steel tanks and after 6 months of maturation, we are met with aromas of blossom, honey, figs and ringlots, fine and delicately floral notes. The wine is supple and elegant, with well-integrated residual sugar, very balanced and pure, bundled and juicy, the varietal typicity in the usual spicy finish; well recognizable.
Serving suggestion
Goes well with Christmas baked goods or strong cheese specialties and has first-class ageing potential for many decades.
