Site
The single vineyard Ried Spiegeln is an eastern exposure with a beautiful view overlooking the Danube river. The soil consists of a thin limestone conglomerate which was deposited by the ancient Traisen river around 15 million years ago.
Vinification
Hand harvested; gentle whole bunch pressing for 6 hours; temperature controlled wild fermentation in 500 liter french oak cask matured; kept for 10 months on its fine lees in the cask.
Tasting notes
Medium yellow-green; delicate passion fruit notes underlaid with meadow herbs; a hint of a savoury noble wood and flintstone; good complexity, juicy, taut, multilayered acid structure; dark minerality.
Serving suggestion
Serve chilled(9-10° Celsius); goes well with spicy, powerful dishes; perfect to combine with asparagus.
